Apostille services for clients in Laos

Laos is not a party to the Hague Apostille Convention, so Lao authorities do not issue apostilles and documents for Laos need consular legalization instead. But many of our clients in Laos hold documents from Convention countries — and through our international offices we obtain those apostilles for you.

What we handle

  • Apostilles on documents from the US, UK, France, Germany, Australia, China, Japan, Korea, India and other Convention countries
  • Retrieval of the document itself when you no longer have it
  • Certified translation of the apostilled document into Lao or English
  • Advice on whether a destination needs an apostille or full legalization
  • Combined apostille + legalization routes for documents used in Laos
  • Courier delivery to Vientiane or anywhere in Laos

Documents we often translate

  • Birth and marriage certificates
  • Family book (household registration)
  • Police clearance certificates
  • Diplomas and transcripts
  • Passports and ID cards
  • Court judgments and divorce decrees
  • Company registration and enterprise certificates
  • Contracts and powers of attorney
  • Medical records
  • Bank statements and tax documents

Frequent questions

Can a Lao document get an apostille?

No. Laos has not joined the Apostille Convention, so Lao documents are authenticated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and then legalized by the destination country's embassy. We handle that route for you.

Is an apostille accepted in Laos?

Not on its own. A foreign document for use in Laos normally needs legalization by the Lao embassy or consulate in the issuing country. We tell you exactly which steps apply.
